2) Welcome BBQ Kickoff

  • Pictures have been posted on the BPKSA website

  • Advertise lab tours more next year

5) Kin Fair

  • BCAK offered $500 to use at Kin Fair
  • Activities
    • Clubs related to Kinesiology, athletics, outdoors
    • Competitions – star trace, grip strength, rowing, etc.
    • Human model – not many people looked at this last year so we need to think of a related activity
  • Which space do we want to rent?
    • ASB
      • $350 to rent
      • Close to BPK hallway and an entrance/exit
      • Good chance BPK students will walk by and check out the event
      • Space for up to 31 tables
    • Saywell Atrium
      • Crystal will check how much it costs to rent
    • Classrooms are free to rent, open spaces cost money
    • Gym costs $60 per hour
  • Clubs to invite
    • Last year: Kin Games, BNSS, Personal Training Club, Exercise is Medicine Club, Outdoors Club
    • We could also invite: Active Living Program, Climbing Club, SFU recreation, Hiking Club
    • Depends on where we hold the event and how much space there will be
  • Food
    • If invited, Hiking Club can apply for food grants from the SFSS
    • Cookies, Timbits, popcorn
    • Wraps are too expensive from SFU Catering Services

6) Career Services

  • Brenda would like to be more involved in promoting Career Services to BPK
  • Suggested workshops/info sessions on MMI’s, LinkedIn, etc.
  • Information session about possible career options with only a bachelor’s degree in BPK
    • Panel with graduates in some of these careers – would make the event more interesting
    • Similar to Careers in BPK Night
    • 1-1.5 hours
    • Date/Time
      • Wednesday night, mid November – gives Brenda more time to ask graduate students to come
      • Graduates may not be able to come in the afternoon if they are working
      • Aim for ~6pm

7) Clothing

  • American Apparel Crewnecks we bought are no longer available – Gildan took over American Apparel
  • Brandon will email Brent for ideas of alternative brands of clothing we can buy
    • Entripy, 4Imprint, bookstore, etc.
  • Last year, preorders collected in the last week of October, clothing pick up was the first week of December
  • This year we should start accepting clothing orders earlier
  • Sonya will create a survey to see what items we should sell at the clothing sale and ask for design submissions
  • Darleen has sent in a design idea – ECG & Mountains
    • Add SFU BPK somewhere on the hoodie

8) Budget

  • Added events
    • Halloween social pub night with BNSS
      • Highland likely won’t be open in October for rentals
      • If we do a pub night on campus, we will need to do it at Club Ilia
    • February social event
      • Hike was also popular on the survey, but February is not a good time for that
    • Bake sale
      • Sell with pre-order collection and clothing pick-up
      • Hiking Club bake sale made a few hundred dollars
    • Most of core money was spent in Spring
      • Careers in BPK Night
        • $2000 for food
        • Most was covered by the grant
        • $950 out of core
      • Different food option would cut down cost
    • Bring up a proposed budget for this year at the next meeting so we can approximate how much money will be spent at each event, how much we will have left for social events, how much we need to make at clothing sales
