Open Issues

  • Blaine’s update on funding
    • Approximately $900 left in core funding (not including $750 we may or may not be receiving for this semester)
    • Approximately $1800 left in kinesiology account
    • Ernest suggests that we focus some funding on recruitment and maintenance
  • Careers in Kinesiology Wrap-up
    • If all members could look at the summary written up by Ernest and add their thoughts as well as fill out the online survey, this will be added to the binder for use next year
    • Mention positive points of event
    • The links for the survey are about to be sent out to both presenters and students
    • Cheri has an update for registration:
      • A cap cannot be put on the online surveys currently available BUT a system with a cap option is being looked into for next year
      • Decided that we will wait until next year to make a final decision for registration when all our options are updated
    • Date for event was successful and the event was able to be linked to Geek Week festivities
    • Possibly implement a broader advertising strategy for next year in order to attract non-kinesiology students to the event
    • Binder will be assembled by co-op office and a disk will be burnt for use next year

  • Donation to Charity
    • PSU is donating a portion of their clothing money towards Haiti relief and has challenged other DSU’s to help
    • Possible ideas:
      • Offer a colour-specific T-shirt and donate proceeds to Haiti relief? Another charity that is more kinesiology oriented?
        • Kid Sport is an option, or Kinesiology department
    • Donate percentage of clothing sales? BUT this is our major money-maker
    • Ask Kinesiology department to match our donation?
  • Anthropology Study
    • A student has requested to come into our meeting and give a brief talk on an unknown topic
    • Agreed to allowing student to attend a future meeting
