Year End Party

It is time for our annual Year End Party!

When: Tuesday April 4th @ 5:30pm

Where: Diamond Alumni Centre

Tickets: $15, available in the BPK Main Office (K9625)

This event includes a delicious buffet dinner with vegetarian and gluten-free options as well as a cash bar. There will be trivia games to test your BPK knowledge, not only about what we study in class but also about our profs and faculty, and the winning teams will be able to choose from some awesome prizes. There are also door prizes to be given away too!
Make sure you buy your tickets soon as they always sell out fast for this fun event where you can relax, take in the beautiful views of the North Shore mountains and socialize with fellow students and faculty all before finals start!

Trivia Night

We’ve decided to try something new this year and have put together a trivia night at the Highland Pub!! It is THIS Wednesday (March 15th) at 6:00pm. One of the rounds will be Kin based, and the other two will be surprise categories. It’s sure to be a good time, so get a team together for your chance to win prizes, including food and drinks, to help fuel the evening!

KIN CUP 2017

Kin Cup is an annual event where the undergrads engage in an epic battle of basketball, dodgeball and soccer against the grad students and faculty. For students, it’s a great way to take a break from studying for exams or to blow off some steam after exams (especially since you will be playing against the profs who wrote your exams!). For faculty, it’s a perfect opportunity to reduce your sedentary time and spend some time with your beloved undergrads.

The undergrads have won 6 years in a row. Undergrads – get that 7th win this year! Grads and faculty – wouldn’t you like to see that streak end? Come out to play some sports and have a good time with your fellow BPK-ers!

The Kin Games team will also be present collecting gently used sports equipment & monetary donations for Jumpstart Kids!

BPK’s 2017 Sun Run Team

The annual Vancouver Sun Run is only a couple of months away and we are excited to announce that this year the BPK department will have its own team!
The 10km race takes place on Sunday April 23rd at 9:00am. The team is registered in the corporate team division which means the registration fee includes a technical shirt with our team name on it AND the convenience of picking up your race packages at SFU before race day. All students, faculty, staff, friends and family are encouraged to join!
To do so, follow the steps below:
1) Click on the poster below
2) Select “Join an Existing Team”
3) Search for the team name “SFU BPK”
4) Enter the team passphrase “bpk”

Register at the early bird rate of $49 + tax BEFORE Friday February 10th.
Prices then increase to $57 + tax until the corporate team registration DEADLINE of Friday March 31st.

OzTREKK Rehabilitation Sciences Event

If you have ever considered studying Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy, Chiro or Speech Pathology in Australia then be sure to attend OzTREKK’s Australian Alumni event on Tuesday, January 31st at 5:00pm.

At the event, you will hear from three Canadian physiotherapists who were educated in Australia and one current student from the University of Sydney. The alumni will provide their honest experience on: student life in Australia, what it was like returning to Canada, and any advise they have on securing jobs upon graduation. At the event, you will also be able to speak to Australian University representatives who will provide details about admissions, deadlines, competitive GPA and more.

Careers in BPK 2017

The BPKSA and BPK Co-op are pleased to invite you to the annual Careers in BPK Event on Wednesday, January 18, 2017.  The event will take place at SFU Burnaby Campus, ASB Atrium from 4:00-8:00 pm. The cost of admission is $2.00 at the door and will include:

  • Pre-event lab tours for BPK students only, from 3:15-4:20 pm (there is a separate registration link for the lab tours, please see below for details). Tours will be of the Sensorimotor Neuroscience Lab (D. Marigold) and the Molecular Cardiac Physiology Group (G. Tibbits).
  • Employer Exhibits / Exhibitor Fair from 4:00-6:50 pm including representatives from: BCIT, BCAK, Fortius, TRU, KPU, Kintec, Innovative Fitness and many more!
  • 2 Breakout Sessions featuring alumni studying and practicing in the fields of: Dietetics, Strength & Conditioning, Physiotherapy & Medicine 
  • Dinner

BPK Clothing Sale

The BPKSA will be holding a CLOTHING SALE this week in the AQ!!

We will be selling BPK gear from past clothing sales. There are limited designs, colours and sizes so be sure to get to the table ASAP! Prices range from $10 – $30 and we will only be accepting cash or cheques.

Where: AQ tables near the main lecture halls (C9001, B9200)
When: Tues Oct 4th from 9:00am – 12:00pm & Wed Oct 5th from 9:00am – 1:00pm

We also will be holding a competition using the well known Star Trace everyone faced in their BPK 142 lab and the winner will receive FREE BPK clothing! So come on down, check out the sale, and learn more about the department and the BPKSA!
