Opening
The meeting of the BPKSA was called to order at 12:30pm on Monday, April 7, 2014 in SWH 10051 by Steven.
In attendance
- Steven, Jake, Debbie, Lea, Ran, Joyce, Shaila, Loryn, Sidney, Garveen, Mohammad, Matteo, Konrad
Open Issues
- Year End Party
- 64 in attendance
- Lower attendance this year manly on the undergraduate side. The date selected may have impacted attendance since it appears as though many students still had lab exams. Making it the following Wednesday not an option however since it is too close to exams. Making the event Thursday or Friday however is not an option either since booking club Ilia costs an extra $10/person
- Improvements for next year include prizes for those who buy tickets early. E.g. draw names of those who have already bought tickets to win a prize to entice people to buy tickets early
- Give away more prizes next year at Club Ilia (clothing? Starbucks gift cards?)
- Need to make more interactive, maybe have students fill out bingo sheet of faculty and grad students forcing them to meet them. Make a big prize for the winner?
- Reimbursements
- Gina Marinkovic motioned to reimburse Steven McGee $1638 and Co-Op $42.84 (SFSS printing) for the Year End Party. Jake Kemp seconded the motion. The motion was unanimously approved.
- The $915 in ticket sales will partially reimburse Steven in addition to the $515 grant. The $250 from our core allocated to this event will be used to reimburse co-op $42.84 and the remaining $207.16 will be sufficient to repay Steven
- Gina Marinkovic motioned to reimburse Steven McGee $1638 and Co-Op $42.84 (SFSS printing) for the Year End Party. Jake Kemp seconded the motion. The motion was unanimously approved.
(207.16 + 515 + 915 = $1637.16, so the cheque to Steven should total $722.16 and the cheque to co-op should simply total $42.84)
- Mohammad Shakeri motioned to reimburse Steven McGee $20.99 for the pizza bought for the last meeting of the semester. Motion was seconded by Garveen. Motion was unanimously approved.
- Degree Learning Expectations
- The majority of the meeting was spent going over the Degree Learning expectations (DLE) Tony Leyland asked us to proofread. A copy of the original and edited DLE is available on the BPKSA email stored in the “Resources” folder. A copy of the DLE can be sent to anyone who is interested.
- BPK Orientation
- Craig has agreed to move the BPK Welcome back BBQ from September 18th 2014 to September 11th 2014 so that it coincides with our scheduled BPK “Orientation/Welcome”
Adjournment
Meeting was adjourned at 1:22 pm by Steven. The next meeting will be in the summer semester, time and location to be determined.
