Meeting Minutes
Wednesday, February 24, 2016
Opening:
The meeting of the BPKSA was called to order at 12:30pm by Garveen in room K9622.
In Attendance:
Garveen, Daniela, Selina, Christian, Jake, Madison, Megan, Daniel, Sabrina, Kirstin, Erina
Open Issues:
1) Updates
-our travel fund was approved for the Kin Games use
-the clothing order was submitted over the weekend, order should arrive the week of March 14th
-UPC meeting updates:
-older classes (e.g. BPK 461) that aren’t being offered are going to be re-structured and they are looking to open them up as electives for BP majors
-for directed studies students used to only be able to do one 496 and one 498 however they are looking to change it so you can do two 496’s or two 498’s. The only requirement is that they need to be done with two different profs. We are wondering if Erina can ask if students could do both courses with the same prof but on two different projects.
2) YEP
-hoping to have it on March 31st at the DAC
-we can call them and ask them for the availability however we need to go through the SFSS to book the event; Sabrina will call the DAC today
-Jake motioned to apply for a grant up to $950 for the BPK Year End Party. Kirstin seconded it. The motion was unanimously approved.
3) Kin Cup
-March 9, 10, 16, 23, 29, 30 were the dates we sent to Tony
-Tony has sent an email to the faculty but we have not heard back with their preferred dates
-only date that gym is available is March 29th from 7:30-8:30, track team has it booked from 5:30-7:30 but they may not even use it, Debbie’s boss will talk to the track team for us
-we may need to think of a back up, could look at the Education Building Gym instead?
-Jake motioned to apply for a grant up to $300 for Kin Cup. Kirstin seconded it. The motion was unanimously approved.
4) SFSS Meeting Updates
-had a presentation from the Health and Dental Group who described how our benefit plan is tiered now, so there is the basic level and if you pay a small fee then you get access to more benefits
-there is an app that you can download to find out what is covered and you can file all your claims through it
