Meeting Minutes
February 12, 2010
Opening:
- The regular meeting of the BPKSA was called to order at 9:36 on February, 12th, 2010 in the Kinesiology Seminar Room by John Abreu-Lanza.
In attendance:
- John, Blaine, Charlotte, Marissa, Matt, Sandra, Amanda
Approval of Agenda
- The agenda was unanimously approved as distributed.
Approval of Minutes
- The minutes of the previous meeting were unanimously approved as distributed.
Open Issues
- Clothing
- John is looking for prices of miscellaneous items such as the polo and drawstring bag from the current clothing supplier
- Prices for dri-fit found online and dri-fit is too expensive to make a profit
- Decided against selling dri-fit in clothing order this year
- Non-clothing items (beer glasses and lanyards) are being postponed to an event and will not be included in clothing order
- Year-end party:
- Location Ideas:
- Decided against last year’s location (Westwood Plateau)
- A location on campus is more accessible:
- Club Ilia- Restaurant & Bar in cornerstone
- Campus pub
- Burnaby mountain golf course (close to skytrain)
- Diamond Alumni centre (somewhat formal, food is supplied)
- Rent out a night club in Vancouver
- Price point: $40 last year (too much?), aim for a lower price this year

- Club Night:
- Still waiting on response from club
- BPKSA Bulletin board
- John will email logo to Charlotte for bulletin board
- Information to be displayed: general information about student association, past and upcoming events, clothing order form once generated,
- Colour scheme: black background red trim on other department bulletin boards, dark blue and white for our bulletin board to match logo colours
- Miscellaneous:
- Blaine’s motion: Set up with catering to have cookies, muffins and coffee at BPKSA meetings for the rest of the semester
- The costs will be explored (approx $30 per meeting is estimated)
- Muffins: 1.25, Cookie: 1.25, Coffee: 1.25 each (15 minimum)
- Muffins and cookies are cut in half,
- Vote postponed to next meeting in March
- Update on core: $375 (half of original funding), plus $900 in account
- Anthropology Study: topic is HPV vaccine Gardasil, student wants to make a presentation at meeting
- Meetings postponed to after Olympic break, correspond through email

- Meeting was adjourned at 10:00am by John Abreu-Lanza. The next meeting will be at 9:30am on March 5th, 2010 in the Kinesiology Seminar Room.
