Opening
The meeting of the BPKSA was called to order at 12:30pm on Monday, March 3, 2014 in SWH 10051 by Steven.

Open Issues
- Kin Cup Recap
- Reimbursements:
- Gina motioned to reimburse Sidney for $125.30 for the Kin Cup gym rentals was unanimously approved
- Jake motioned to reimburse Steven $95.00 for the Kin Cup food was unanimously approved
- Feedback: Fruit was popular & Good turn out with undergrads
- Year End Party
- April 2, 2014
- Debbie will let Darleen know that we are interested in keeping the same poster as last year and just changing the date
- Lea will book tables for the week of March 24-28
- Jake & Debbie will make table schedule
- Gina will make a facebook event
- Geek Week
- Now “Science day” March 12th instead of Geek Week
- Debbie and Jake will create a schedule for Wed. March 12th for a BPK table
- UPC Update from Joyce
- Discussing that some profs just want to award USRAs to students only based on GPA and some want to change it they feel like their ranking communication and research potential should be weighed differently
- Some discussion during our meeting:
- It may not be fair for 1st and 2nd year students to be awarded a USRA. They can volunteer first and then later on be paid.
- Students should have a base of certain BPK courses before going into certain research
- The bad thing about the process now: You may be ranked very well going into the interview but if you have a bad interview, you are out
- Issue: students have more control over what lab they want to be in than the profs choosing who they want in their lab. An idea to solve this would be for profs to prep their students for interviews to have more control
