Opening
The meeting of the BPKSA was called to order at 1:30pm on Friday, March 22, 2013 in the BPK Seminar Room by Steven.
In attendance
- Steven, Matt, Megan, Debbie, Loryn, Jake, Lucy, Joyce, Megan, Alex, Shaila, Dora, Sam, Kirstin, Leandra, Jason
Open Issues
- Year End Party
- 52 tickets sold
- Joyce will send Ilia a final count Tuesday night and we will order 5 more plates of food to make sure we have enough
- event starts at 6:00pm and dinner will be served at 6:30pm
- Schedule for checking tickets at the door:
- 5:45-6:00 -> Sidney & Lucy
- 6:00-6:15 -> Matt & Megan
- 6:15-6:30 -> Jake & Loryn
- Clothing Order
- Megan will pick up the rest of the clothes this weekend; Steven will deliver them to the printers early next week
- Debbie and Megan totalled all the orders so we have numbers to send to the printers; they also have a master list of people’s orders for clothing distribution
- when the printed clothes arrive we will set up for 2 days in the BPK Seminar Room for distribution
- Science Cup
- Steven brought up the idea at an All Presidents Meeting and the other DSU Presidents liked the idea
- on April 3rd at 12:30pm in MBC there will be a meeting held to help approve the idea of Faculty Student Unions and 50 people need to show up to get the motion passed
- these will act as the “middle man” between the SFSS and the DSUs
- BPK Orientation
- a separate orientation from the general one held to help introduce new BPK students to each other and the faculty
- BPK students would pre-register and be placed in clans with group leaders (members of the BPKSA) and the day would go as follows:
- a tour of SFU with a focus on BPK opportunities (how to apply to the fitness centre, peer health, volunteering at SFU Physio or with Strength & Conditioning)
- lecture hall discussion (talk about the BPKSA and how we can answer any questions they have about the faculty/promote upcoming events)
- BPK Research promotion (discuss the research going on and how they can get involved, lab tours)
- Mini Kin Cup
- timing would need to be sorted out (before or after the general orientation?) –> the first Thursday of September is what we are leaning towards now

Meeting was adjourned at 2:20 pm by Steven. The next meeting will be Friday, April 5, 2013 in the BPK Seminar Room at 1:30pm.
