àUpdate from Steven
- Curriculum updates:
- Chemistry 283 will be an option for Biomedical Physiology undergraduates to take
- BISC 202 (genetics) has also been added to the curriculum for Biomedical Physiology
- also thinking about adding new BPK Major concentrations,
- Issues with Course Registration:
- not enough seats in upper division courses for students enrolling each semester
- seats are always limited and tend to fill up in the first week of enrollment; scholarship students and the athletes fill up most of these seats
- some core courses required for the program are only offered once a year; therefore the amount of students wanting to take these courses tends to accumulate every semester these courses are offered
- some courses are the size they are, due to the marking
- courses with labs cannot be expanded; takes time out of the professor’s research if the labs are expanded; however, lecture based classes can be expanded
- Possible Solutions:
- add more prerequisites for upper division classes or add more restrictions
- Steven will be bringing up the issues with course registration specific to this semester with Dr. Tibbits
- If you haven’t already, email to Steven your enrollment date, courses you couldn’t get into, and the amount of credits you have accumulated, including this semester
- BPK 306
- Department is well aware of the current state of BPK 306; changes are underway
- Potential Suggestions for changes to the course:
- Reweighting midterms
- Adding in more assignments
