Opening
The meeting of the BPKSA was called to order at 1:33pm on Thursday, October 25, 2012 in the BPK Seminar Room by Steven.
In attendance
- Steven, Darleen, Joyce, Megan, Sidney, Amanda, Debbie, Shaila, Kirsten
Open Issues
- Career Night
- unfortunately our night is the same as UBC’s Career Night- this may be a conflict for some exhibitors
- SFU Rec, Western State Chiro, SFU Health Promotions, Steve Nash Sports Club have all confirmed as exhibitors
- we are now leaning towards 5 careers for sure: Med, PT, OT Naturopath, Kinesiologist
- the schedule will depend on what day lab tours are on
- Jason and Steven will meet with Cheri to work out the details for a possible grant to help cover the cost of the event
- The following people are going to contact presenters/faculty members about Career Night:
- Brent: Tom (about whether lab tours can run on Research Day and if so, if Tom can put out a call for faculty)
- Darleen: Kintec, Innovative Fitness, and presenters for Med, PT, OT, Kinesiologist
- Lucy: Naturopath
- Sidney: Catherine Richardson (about promoting Geek Week on our program)
- Steven: Michiko (email the picture for the program design)
- UPC Meeting Update
- a new video is in the works to promote BPK, Joyce will send out the video for us to watch
- money coming from the Dept. of Science may possibly go towards creating more opportunities to give lower division students research experience
- Bouldering Event
- Steven is working on a grant to subsidize the cost
- we have agreed it will be on Monday, November 19th, @ 7:30pm
- Sidney will contact them to confirm the date/time
- Clothing Order
- Shaila found cheaper clothing options, and after looking at all of them we replaced some of the previously picked items
- Megan will email out the new list and Brent will look in to ordering samples
- BPKSA Website
- the professor for Kin 303 is already in the process of making new videos for the class

Meeting was adjourned at 2:22pm by Steven. The next meeting will be Thursday, November 1, 2012 in the BPK Seminar Room at 1:30pm.
