Opening
The meeting of the BPKSA was called to order at 1:30pm on Thursday, October 31, 2013 in AQ 4130 by Steven.
In attendance

Open Issues
- Clothing Sale
- Steven booked tables for Nov. 18-22
- BPK Execs that have BPK clothing: wear it to the meeting next week so that we can take pictures to advertise
- Bowling Night
- Lucy’s update on REVs bowling deal:
- $50/lane up to 6 ppl includes large pizza, 2 games, shoe rentals we have 6 lanes booked
- or
- $17/person includes 2 games and shoe rental plus $20/pizza
- We will change our reservation time 6-8pm and book 4 lanes instead of 6 and take the $50 special
- We will allocate around $300 for this event and pay for everyone’s first two games, rentals, & pizza
- $200 from granting and remainder will come from core
- Career Event
- Steven talked to John from Strength & Conditioning and it doesn’t look like they’re interested in having a strength & conditioning breakout session
- Darleen got an e-mail from a chiropractor who is interested in talking at the career event (Western State Chiropractic) – we need to ask if they have SFU grads to talk?
- We will replace strength and conditioning with chiropractic
- We have a physio confirmed
- SFSS Forum Update from Gina
- SFSS want students to complete the “Student Choice Survey”
- They want students to get involved when the elections come
- BPKSA Execs and Students, please fill out the survey
- “Student Government 101” – learn about other ways to get involved (Nov 8 11:30-1:30)
- BPK Departmental Committee Meeting Update from Joyce
- Grad student Tanya says the graduate studentswant to start a mentorship program (1 on 1, undergrads with graduate students) so that undergraduates can get involved in the research without having to commit to volunteer or working
- Faculty hire situation – want feedback on what’s missing in out program
- When hiring new faculty they take into account their teaching ability and if their research will be beneficial to department
- Some suggestions from our meeting:
- Injury management.
- Upper level version of 241
- Something to help reinforce the knowledge you learn in anatomy (make it more hands on)
- Rehabilitation course for different systems
- Genetics course
