SFSS Meeting Update
-Jake attended the SFSS meeting and reported back on the Chart of Values which was discussed
Math 154/155:
-curriculum coordinator from the Math Department would like to attend a meeting and discuss how we use Math 154/155 in BPK program courses
-Loryn suggested sending out a web survey to the undergraduates who are in their upper division courses to get their opinion
-both Math 154/155 is good since it comes to good use in many courses for reading graphs, academic papers and understanding crucial concepts in courses like BPK 402 or BPK 308
-Loryn will update us on when the coordinator will come and attend a meeting so we can prepare for the discussion

BPK Orientation

-Potential date for orientation could be the same as the Welcome BBQ (September 24th) as it was last year; this is to be confirmed
-Things to do for this year:
-an icebreaker so everyone can get to know each other better maybe before the lab tours
-this year we can meet in a lecture hall instead (will be much more organized compared to last year when we all met in convocation mall)
-can also do the SFU Rec Tour again; Shaila will talk to the representative in SFU Rec about this & Loryn will speak to promotions
BPKSA Recruitment
–we need to do more promotions to recruit younger students into the BPKSA
-potential ideas for recruitment:
-could send out a message in the newsletter
-emails from the BPKSA to new incoming students
-Loryn will draft a message for advertisement and will send it to Sabrina; Sophie will draft a list for Loryn of the new student’s emails
Princeton Review

-there will be no cost/fee for us
-will give us promotional materials so we can promote them at our events
